Container gardening, food wastage, hunger and minimalistic living

Container gardening, food wastage, hunger and minimalistic living:

While food wastage is one of the biggest issues in the world we currently live in, millions of people around the world live hungry. In India alone there are millions of people that live and sleep hungry everyday. Malnutrition is other issue seen in India and around the world with children suffering from malnutrition and illnesses caused by it.

As such living a healthy vegetarian lifestyle reduces food wastage through food production life cycle compared to meat eating lifestyle. Indian vegetarian lifestyle teaches one to consume fresh food and live a minimalistic life. In many cases it has been seen that lots of fruits and vegetables are spoiled in the transit, thus adding to the food wastage that otherwise could have been saved and could have helped many hungry on streets and other places get food.

Vegetables and fruits can be easily and sustainably grown locally even in small spaces that can reduce the burden on shortage of food whenever there is one. Growing one's own food and vegetables teaches one to learn how to reduce food wastage. You can grow your own vegetables in containers in apartment balcony, small terrace area, own small garden space, they are health givers and give immense happiness. Thus even tasty vegetarian foods can satisfy your hunger and change your mood without having to eat meats or eat more.

Select the vegetable or vegetables that you would like to grow in your garden space. The garden space can be a small terrace area in your apartment or balcony area of your apartment, or a garden area around your house. If your garden space is limited, you can grow simple herbs or simple vegetables like green beans that can be grown easily in smaller containers in bounty.

While you fulfill our own needs, you can also share your additional harvest with food bank or poor needy around you where you can do Anna Daan.

Thus minimalistic living and container gardening can be used to reduce hunger and food wastage.
