Grow Jasmine or mogra plant for sweet fragrance, relaxation and Puja flowers :

Jasmine plant can be grown in most parts of the world, depending on the weather conditions and season. In India, it is widely used at home and in temples where puja is performed. Jasmine fragrance is sweet and relaxing, it can revive mood easily. It is used commercially in variety of ways ranging from soaps, diffusers and herbal teas. It is a very useful plant for your vegetable container garden as well as it can attract pollinators like bumble bees, honey bees and different kinds of butterflies including white butterflies. Flowers produced are white and have sweet fragrance.

Jasmine or mogra flowers have sweet smell. It is symbol of love, in India it is used to prepare flower garlands which are called gajra's that are used for daily puja or puja ceremony in temples. Mogra flowers, garlands and mogra attar, mogra incense or dhoop sticks can all be prepared from mogra and used for pujas. The same mogra garlands are also used by women in India on their head.

You can easily grow jasmine in small to medium sized containers. Select the correct potting soil for your jasmine plant and good plant food for your jasmine. Organic potting mix, organic plant food along with organic fertilizers are always good to use for your container gardening as they will provide you with a healthy plant and flowers.

Some of the common remedies for your container garden:

You can spray vegetable plants with Neem oil spray regularly. This will keep some of the garden pests away and keep the plant leaves shiny. Using neem oil spray can help save the leaves and fruits. If you see diseased or dry leaves, you can trim/prune the plant and remove the older/diseased leaves. New leaves will then produce fresh flowers.

Banana peel powder is a good fertilizer and helps in producing bountiful flowers.

You can also use boiled water with coriander seeds, fennel seeds and cummin seeds together and feed them to the plants in summer time, we have seen that it helps beans during the summer time. It is a good remedy for plants in summer time.

Ginger is warming, Indians normally use ginger for making Indian chai and while making this, ginger peels that remain from this can be used for making ginger water for the plants. If the peels from your cooking/tea/chai are too little, you can add more ginger to it for making boiled ginger water. Boil water and ginger for 20 minutes and then let the water cool down for sometime. Once cooled you can use this boiled ginger water for plants like like Marigolds, Jasmine and Hibiscus. This is a excellent remedy for the plants in winter time when the weather outside is cold. We have seen it has helped the plants to keep producing flowers through cooler weather. If you live in a country where the temperatures drops to freezing, it may be a good idea to move the plants indoors and still feed it with boiled ginger water.

Thus Jasmine or mogra is one of very must plants for any container garden be it flower butterfly garden or vegetable garden.
